In addition to the workshop of the musical I’m directing, Project Baby, I’m performing this week in CLICK at the Los Angeles Theater Center’s New Plays Festival. I play Troy, a young FTM transgendered man exploring the possibilities of transitioning by asking the troubled Cole, a fully-transitioned FTM, for advice and support. Written by Kate Sullivan Gibbens and directed by Casey Stangl, Friday at 7 and Saturday at 5pm. Both performances are free and your feedback is most welcome!

Next Project Baby reading: Jan 26th

The next staged reading of the new musical I’m directing/developing will be performed on Thursday January 26th at the Renberg Theater, part of the Village at Ed Gould Plaza (at the Los Angeles LGBT center). We’ve been working on a few new songs and restructuring some of the first act, so this one should be exciting! It’s all part of the NEA grant we received last Spring, heading toward the full production which will open in September. The countdown begins…

My recording of “Someday”, the song I’ve arranged with the awesome band Ampersand, is in the studio for mastering. Looking forward to posting it here, and also filming a short vid of the song for Ampersand’s 12 Videos of Christmas Project. The first video is launching today – you can also look for me in the 5th, a lovingly awkward rendition of Feliz Navidad.

Hi all! I spent some time this weekend with my favorite band, Ampersand, laying down background vocals for their upcoming album. Thu and I had collaborated on a vocal arrangement for the song “Someday” over the summer, and now it’s laid out in 5 part-harmony. I’ll post it here as soon as it’s mixed.

Project Baby journey begins!

Project Baby, the amazing new musical by Lori Ada Jaroslow and directed by Shannon MacMillan, held a packed house captive on November 7th in the first of three workshops leading up to the 2012 premiere at The Road Theater in North Hollywood. Shannon has been working on this show almost two years, and will helm the full production next fall with the help of a $20,000 NEA grant.
