Shannon MacMillan - "Max" to many of her friends - is a performer and theater director who lives in Los Angeles. She holds a B.A. in Theatre from Smith College and completed the Professional Training Program at the Dell'Arte International School for Physical Theater in Blue Lake, CA. She is a co-founder of The Flying Wagon Theatre, and an associate artist of the Illegitimate Ensemble, based in Tucson, AZ.

Born in Orange, CA, Shannon was excited to return to her home state in 2008 after eight years on the East coast. In New York, she worked with such companies as Theater for the New City, Mabou Mines, 20% Theater, The Queen's Company, and others. She also held a number of completely random jobs (including one at a scenic design studio, where she proudly painted the vending booths for Wicked), spent endless hours on the subway, and saw many amazing works of theater.

Shannon is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, and is featured for 1 thrilling second in the Russell Crowe flick Tenderness, directed by John Polson. She can also be seen in a number of independent and student films. She is particularly fond of her role as a hard-nosed Kung-Fu teacher in the short film Ninja Burglar.

An avid fan of physical theater, circus, clowns, masks, musicals, and general performing riff-raff, Shannon was inspired by her studies at Dell'Arte to write and produce a series of ridiculous clown webisodes starring one of her own creations, Gladys P. Gnuly. Gladys is always available to host an event, lead a spirited tour, or give a completely factual lecture on the topic of your choice!
